Dr. Moosa Jamal

My name is Dr. Moosa Jamal, and I am honoured to be taking over half of Dr. Heather Sherwin’s practice at Magenta Health. It’ll take some time before I have the opportunity to meet everyone, so read on to find out a bit more about me!

Where did I do my training?
I completed my undergraduate training at York University, where I received a BSc with Honours in Kinesiology. I continue to emphasize the mantra of "Exercise is Medicine" while I integrate inclusive care for all in my daily clinical work.

I went on to complete medical school at McMaster University in Hamilton before finishing my Family Medicine residency training at Women's College Hospital. I am very excited to begin this new chapter of my career as a part of the diverse Magenta Health community!

Why did I choose family medicine?
I find it extremely humbling and rewarding that in Family Practice, I am responsible for being someone’s first point of contact to the healthcare system and have the opportunity to build a trusting therapeutic relationship over decades. Family Medicine is an extremely broad specialty which is centred around attempting to solve someone's current problem while also integrating their health concerns and goals for well-being overall - something I hope to achieve for each and every patient.

Some hobbies!
When I don't have a stethoscope around my neck, I enjoy baking in the kitchen, reading mystery novels in a cozy cafe, cycling throughout the city, and travelling to new places to hike and explore.

I look forward to being your family physician!
