Clinic hours
The regular clinic hours are Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 4:00pm.
Kindly keep in mind that each physician will set their own clinic schedule, which may differ somewhat from regular clinic hours. To book an appointment with your physician and/or to view their availability, please use the online booking link provided to you by your doctor during your initial intake appointment. The online booking system is up-to-date and comprehensive. That is, all currently available appointments can be booked online.
Please be advised the clinics are typically closed on all statutory holidays and the civic holiday.
General Types of Clinic Appointments AND When they are available
We have set up the clinic schedule with a view to promote continuity of patient care, and to minimize the use of outside walk-in-clinics by our patients. This includes the provision of same-day and after-hours appointments for patients who have urgent medical issues.
Regular Appointment
Regular appointments are usually scheduled during the regular clinic hours noted above, and are almost always with your own physician. These appointments can typically be scheduled up to 90 days in advance.
Urgent AppointmentS with your own physician
Every day that your physician is working in clinic, they will make a number of daytime appointments available that cannot be booked until 24-54 hours in advance. Additionally, when your physician is away from the clinic (e.g. educational conferences, vacation), their colleagues will dedicate a similar number of appointments to the absent physician's patients. These appointments are therefore usually with your own physician, but not necessarily so.
Please note these appointments are for urgent matters only. For example, please do not use this option to schedule an appointment in regards to a long-term or ongoing issue. More guidance on when to book urgent appointments is available here.
urgent appointments with the on-call md (Evenings & Weekends)
Urgent appointment with the on-call MD are available Monday to Thursday evenings, and Saturday & Sunday mornings. The specific location will vary from day-to-day, week-to-week.
These appointments can be booked 24-54 hours in advance. Physicians at Magenta Health take turns working these evening and weekend shifts, so you will not necessarily see your own physician during one of these appointments. Please note these appointments are for urgent matters only. For example, please do not use this option to schedule an appointment in regards to a long-term or ongoing issue. More guidance on when to book urgent appointments is available here.
As our number of physicians grow, we will try to expand our after-hours coverage, so stay tuned!
Periodic Health Checks (a.k.a. Preventative Health Exam / Physical Exam)
Periodic health checks focus on preventative health. There are different recommendations about if/when you should book one, partially depending on your age. Guidance about when or if to book a health check is available on your physician’s booking page.
Periodic health exams are covered by OHIP once every 12+ months for every patient age 2 years and up. These appointments are always with your own physician. There is generally limited availability for these appointments to prioritize availability for acute medical concerns. Please see your doctor regularly for any new, changing, or ongoing concerns.
Well Baby Visit
Well baby visits are routine check-up exams (and immunizations if applicable) for children under the age of 2. These appointments usually occur when the child is 1 week, 1 month, 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months, 15 months, and 18 months old, although your doctor may recommend a different timing and/or frequency in certain circumstances. These appointments are always with your own physician. These appointments can be scheduled up to 90 days in advance.
